Stainless steel plate is a term that encompasses both stainless steel plates and acid-resistant steel plates. Emerging at the dawn of the 20th century, the evolution of stainless steel plates has established a critical material and technological foundation for modern industrial development and scientific advancements. These plates come in a vast array of types with diverse properties, gradually categorizing into several classifications throughout their evolution. Structurally, they are categorized into four main types: austenitic stainless steel plate, martensitic stainless steel plate (including precipitation hardening variants), ferritic stainless steel plate, and austenitic-ferritic duplex stainless steel plate. Based on their primary chemical composition or characteristic elements, they are further subdivided into chromium stainless steel plate, chromium-nickel stainless steel plate, chromium-nickel-molybdenum stainless steel plate, low carbon stainless steel plate, high molybdenum stainless steel plate, and high purity stainless steel plate, among others. According to performance characteristics and specific uses, the plates are sorted into acid-resistant, sulfuric acid-resistant, pitting-resistant, stress corrosion-resistant, and high-strength stainless steel plates. Functionally, they are divided into low-temperature, non-magnetic, easy-to-cut, and super-plastic stainless steel plates. The standard method of classification amalgamates structural features and chemical composition, generally dividing them into martensitic, ferritic, austenitic, duplex, and precipitation hardening stainless steel plates, or simply into chromium stainless steel and nickel stainless steel categories. Typical applications include pulp and paper equipment, heat exchangers, mechanical equipment, dyeing machines, film processing equipment, pipelines, and coastal construction materials, among others.
