Stainless steel plate is a general term encompassing both stainless and acid-resistant steel plates. Emerging at the dawn of the 20th century, these plates have laid a pivotal foundation for modern industry and technological advancements. There exist diverse varieties of stainless steel plates, each forged with unique properties, and over time, these have branched into several distinct categories. Structurally, stainless steel plates are classified into four main types: austenitic, martensitic (including precipitation hardening), ferritic, and duplex stainless steel plates. Chemically, they are distinguished based on their composition: chromium stainless steel, chromium-nickel stainless steel, chromium-nickel-molybdenum stainless steel, low carbon stainless steel, high molybdenum stainless steel, and high purity stainless steel. Functionally, they are categorized by their performance traits and uses: sulfuric acid resistant, pitting corrosion resistant, stress corrosion resistant, and high-strength stainless steel plates. Additionally, functional characteristics yield categories such as low temperature, non-magnetic, easily machinable, and superplastic stainless steel plates. The most prevalent classification encompasses both structural and chemical composition features, resulting in two main categories: chromium stainless steel and nickel stainless steel. Typical applications include but are not limited to pulp and paper equipment, heat exchangers, machinery, dyeing equipment, film washing setups, pipelines, and coastal construction materials.
