The purest form, titanium iodide, contains impurities not exceeding 0.1%, yielding low strength but high plasticity. Industrial-grade pure titanium (99.5%) exhibits the following properties: Density: ρ=4.5g/cc, Melting Point: 1725ºC, Thermal Conductivity: λ=15.24W/(m.K), Tensile Strength: σb=539MPa, Elongation: δ=25%, Section Shrinkage: ψ=25%, Elastic Modulus: E=1.078×10^5MPa, Hardness: HB195.
Advantages of Titanium Alloy

Titanium alloys offer several outstanding advantages over other metal materials:
Titanium alloys exhibit an impressive strength-to-density ratio, with tensile strengths reaching 100-140kgf/mm² while maintaining only 60% of steel's density.
They possess excellent medium-temperature strength, functioning at several hundred degrees higher than aluminum alloys, and can sustain required strengths at temperatures between 450-500°C for extended periods.
Remarkable corrosion resistance is a hallmark of titanium alloys. A uniform, dense oxide film forms on titanium surfaces in the atmosphere, providing resilience against an array of media. Typically, titanium excels in oxidizing and neutral environments and demonstrates superior resistance in seawater, wet chlorine gas, and chloride solutions. However, its corrosion resistance diminishes in reducing conditions like hydrochloric acid.
Titanium alloys known for their superior low-temperature performance, such as TA7, retain significant plasticity even at -253°C.
They feature a low elastic modulus, limited thermal conductivity, and are non-ferromagnetic.
Titanium alloys are characterized by high hardness.
Despite poor stamping characteristics, they offer excellent thermoplasticity.
By adjusting the heat treatment process, varying phase compositions and microstructures can be achieved in heat-treated titanium alloys. Fine equiaxial structures are renowned for their plasticity, thermal stability, and fatigue strength, while acicular structures offer high lasting strength, creep strength, and fracture toughness. The combined equiaxed and acicular structures deliver well-balanced, comprehensive properties.
Common heat treatment methods for titanium alloys include annealing, solution treatment, and aging treatment. Annealing serves to eliminate internal stress, enhance plasticity, and stabilize the structure, thereby optimizing overall properties. Typically, the annealing temperature for α alloy and (α+β) alloy is set at 120 to 200ºC below the (α+β) -→ β phase transition point. Solution and aging treatments involve rapid cooling from high temperatures to form martensitic α' phase and metastable β phase, followed by heat preservation at mid-range temperatures to decompose these metastable phases, resulting in α phase or other small dispersed second-phase particles. This process strengthens the alloy. Generally, (alpha + beta) alloy quenching occurs below the (alpha + beta) -→ beta phase transition point by 40 to 100ºC, while metastable beta alloy quenching takes place above the transition point by 40 to 80ºC. The aging treatment temperature typically ranges from 450 to 550ºC. Additionally, to meet specific workpiece requirements, the industry employs methods such as double annealing, isothermal annealing, β heat treatment, deformation heat treatment, and other specialized metal heat treatment processes.

Ordinary annealing state TC6 titanium alloy has good microstructure and property stability below 300ºC/5000h, and high temperature properties such as instantaneous tensile, creep and durability at different temperatures are equivalent to double annealing and isothermal annealing state. The semi-finished TC6 titanium alloy processed by ordinary annealing can meet the requirements of the service temperature of aircraft structural parts (below 300ºC).
