Stainless steel plate is a versatile term that encompasses both stainless and acid-resistant steel plates. First emerging at the start of the 20th century, the development of stainless steel plates has significantly contributed to modern industry and technological advancements. Various types of stainless steel plates have evolved, each with distinct properties, leading to several classifications over time. Structurally, they are categorized into four main types: austenitic, martensitic (including precipitation hardening), ferritic, and austenitic-ferritic duplex stainless steel plates. Chemically, they are classified based on key components such as chromium, nickel, and molybdenum, resulting in categories like chromium stainless steel, chromium-nickel stainless steel, chromium-nickel-molybdenum stainless steel, and others including low carbon and high purity variations. Performance-wise, they are divided into corrosion-resistant, sulfuric acid-resistant, pitting, stress corrosion-resistant, and high-strength stainless steel plates. Functionally, they range from low-temperature to non-magnetic, easy-cutting, and superplastic stainless steel plates. The most common classification methods combine structural and chemical characteristics, splitting them into martensitic, ferritic, austenitic, duplex, and precipitation hardening types, or simply into chromium and nickel stainless steel plates. Typical applications include equipment for pulp and paper production, heat exchangers, mechanical devices, dyeing machinery, film washing equipment, pipelines, and materials for coastal construction.
