Stainless steel plate, a versatile and indispensable component in modern industry, encompasses both stainless and acid-resistant steel plates. Since its inception at the dawn of the 20th century, stainless steel plate development has been instrumental in driving technological progress and industrial advancement. This material has diversified into several categories, each tailored to specific applications and properties. Structurally, stainless steel plates fall into four primary categories: austenitic, martensitic (including precipitation hardening), ferritic, and duplex austenitic-ferritic stainless steel plates. Chemically, they are classified into chromium stainless steel plates, chromium-nickel stainless steel plates, chromium-nickel-molybdenum stainless steel plates, and more specialized variants like low carbon, high molybdenum, and high purity stainless steel plates. Functionally, categories include general corrosion-resistant, sulfuric acid-resistant, pitting-resistant, stress corrosion-resistant, and high-strength stainless steel plates. Further subdivisions based on specific performance attributes include low temperature, non-magnetic, easy-cutting, and super plastic stainless steel plates. Typically, classifications combine structural and chemical characteristics, resulting in categories like martensitic, ferritic, austenitic, duplex, and precipitation hardening stainless steel plates, or simply chromium and nickel stainless steel plates. Their applications span a wide range: from pulp and paper equipment and heat exchangers to mechanical and dyeing equipment, film washing apparatus, pipelines, and coastal building exteriors.
