Product Description

Titanium Sheet Ta8-1 Titanium Plate Supplier Titanium Plate Various Sizes Can Be Customized
Titanium alloy, a remarkable fusion of titanium with other elements, exhibits superior properties. Titanium exists in two crystal forms: α titanium with a close-packed hexagonal structure below 882ºC, and β titanium with a body-centered cubic structure above 882ºC. Our technical standards include: 1: Adherence to GB/T 3620.1 for chemical composition, with permissible deviations as per GB/T 3620.2 upon reinspection. 2: Thickness deviations comply with Table 1. 3: Width and length deviations align with Table 2. 4: Plate corners should be precisely cut into right angles, with inclines within the allowable deviations for length and width.

Alloying

Titanium alloy, a synergy of titanium with other elements, boasts two crystal structures: α titanium (close-packed hexagonal below 882ºC) and β titanium (body-centered cubic above 882ºC).
Alloying elements are categorized based on their impact on the phase transition temperature:
1. α stabilizers increase the phase transition temperature, including aluminum, carbon, oxygen, and nitrogen. Aluminum, a primary alloying element, significantly enhances titanium alloy strength at varying temperatures, reduces specific gravity, and boosts elastic modulus.
2. β stabilizers decrease the phase transition temperature and include isomorphic elements (molybdenum, niobium, vanadium) and eutectoid elements (chromium, manganese, copper, iron, silicon).
The former includes molybdenum, niobium, vanadium; the latter includes chromium, manganese, copper, iron, silicon.
3. Neutral elements, such as zirconium and tin, have minimal impact on phase transition temperature.
Oxygen, nitrogen, carbon, and hydrogen are principal impurities in titanium alloys. Oxygen and nitrogen greatly strengthen the α phase but reduce plasticity. Recommended contents are 0.15~0.2% for oxygen, and 0.04~0.05% for nitrogen. Hydrogen's solubility in the α phase is low; excess hydrogen forms brittle hydrides. Hence, hydrogen content is controlled below 0.015%. Hydrogen's dissolution in titanium is reversible and removable via vacuum annealing.

Applications

Titanium plates are prized in shipbuilding for their outstanding corrosion resistance, low density, memory, and non-magnetic properties. Applications extend to nuclear submarines, deep submersibles, atomic icebreakers, hydrofoils, hovercraft, minesweepers, propellers, whip antennas, seawater pipes, condensers, heat exchangers, acoustic devices, and firefighting equipment. Titanium alloys are used for industrial pure titanium, titanium-zirconium alloys, and other advanced titanium products.
(1) All Titanium Ships. With a rich history of practical experience, our journey began with the manufacture of titanium boats, notably in the 1990s, by industry leaders such as Toho Titanium Co., LTD., Nikko Industrial Co., LTD., Fuji Shin Shipyard, and Eteng Shipyard. Titanium ships boast numerous benefits including lightweight construction, high-speed capability, smaller engine requirements, reduced fuel consumption, minimal carbon dioxide emissions, maintenance-free surface coating, and easy accessory cleaning. However, the challenges lie in the high material cost, complex manufacturing processes, and stringent protection needs. Despite these, test results affirm the remarkable speed stability, vibration control, and noise reduction of our titanium crafts.
(2) Atomic Powered Ships. In Russia, the substitution of stainless steel with titanium alloy in steam engines, heat exchangers, and ship coolers has revolutionized maritime engineering by overcoming corrosion issues. The adoption of titanium steam engines in Russian atomic icebreakers' power plants has significantly extended engine lifespan by up to 10 times, showcasing the unparalleled durability and efficiency of titanium alloys.
(3) Propeller. Propellers demand high strength, superior fatigue performance, and exceptional erosion and cavitation resistance in seawater. Titanium alloy meets these stringent criteria. The U.S. Navy pioneered the use of a 1,500 mm diameter, four-bladed detachable titanium alloy propeller on hydrofoils, revolutionizing maritime propulsion. Since 1972, China has developed various titanium alloy propellers, with diameters ranging from 450mm to 1700mm. Our capability to produce fixed propellers up to 1200mm in diameter and 130kg in mass ensures long-term reliability; titanium propellers offer a service life more than five times longer than their copper counterparts.
(4) Marine Pumps, Valves, and Pipes. Traditional marine infrastructure using copper and stainless steel typically lasts only 2-5 years under harsh conditions. Replacing these with titanium alloys has proven highly effective, especially for large flow mobile seawater pipelines. The Russian ship pipeline life standard mandates first docking maintenance at 8-9 years, a minimum service life of 15 years, and reliable operation for 25-30 years across all vessel types, underscoring the longevity and reliability of titanium components.
