A superalloy tube is a high-performance alloy tube engineered to withstand significant stress while offering exceptional resistance to oxidation and corrosion.
Nickel-based and cobalt-based superalloys dominate the field. Depending on the preparation process, these superalloys can be categorized into deformation superalloys, casting superalloys, and powder metallurgy superalloys. They can further be classified by strengthening methods, such as solid solution strengthening, precipitation strengthening, oxide dispersion strengthening, and fiber strengthening. Superalloys are indispensable in manufacturing high-temperature components like turbine blades, guide vanes, turbine discs, high-pressure compressor discs, and combustion chambers for aviation, naval, and industrial gas turbines. High Temperature Alloy Pipe Manufacturing Process

Manufacturing high-temperature alloy pipes that contain minimal or no aluminum and titanium typically utilizes electric arc furnaces or non-vacuum induction furnaces. For superalloys containing aluminum and titanium, vacuum smelting is preferred to control element burn-off and minimize gas and inclusions. To further reduce inclusions and improve ingot structure, a dual process combining initial smelting and secondary remelting is employed. The main smelting methods include electric arc furnaces, vacuum induction furnaces, and non-vacuum induction furnaces, while remelting is typically done using vacuum consumable furnaces and electroslag furnaces.
Solid solution strengthened alloys and alloy ingots with low aluminum and titanium content (less than 4.5%) can undergo forging. Those containing higher amounts of aluminum and titanium are generally processed through extrusion or rolling, followed by hot rolling. Some products may require further refinement through cold rolling or cold drawing. Large diameter alloy ingots or cakes must be forged using hydraulic or fast-forging hydraulic presses.
Highly alloyed, hard-to-deform alloys are commonly utilized in precision casting, particularly for turbine and guide blades. To mitigate grain boundaries perpendicular to the stress axis and reduce porosity in cast alloys, directional crystallization processes have been developed. This technique ensures grains grow uniformly along one crystal direction during solidification, producing parallel columnar crystals without transverse grain boundaries. Achieving directional crystallization requires maintaining an adequate axial temperature gradient and excellent axial heat dissipation between the liquidus and solid phase lines. Additionally, single crystal blade manufacturing processes are also being explored to further eliminate grain boundaries entirely.
