Alloying
Titanium alloy, characterized by the addition of various elements to titanium, exists in two crystalline forms: the α phase (hexagonal structure) below 882ºC, and the β phase (cubic structure) above 882ºC.
Alloying elements, based on their impact on phase transition temperature, fall into three categories:
1. α Phase Stabilizers: Elements like aluminum, carbon, oxygen, and nitrogen, which raise the phase transition temperature. Aluminum, the primary alloying component, significantly enhances the alloy's strength at both room and high temperatures, reduces specific gravity, and increases the elastic modulus.
2. β Phase Stabilizers: These elements lower the phase transition temperature and are further classified into isomorphic and eutectoid types.
The isomorphic type includes molybdenum, niobium, and vanadium; the eutectoid type encompasses chromium, manganese, copper, iron, and silicon.
3. Neutral Elements: Zirconium and tin, which minimally affect the phase transition temperature.
Oxygen, nitrogen, carbon, and hydrogen are primary impurities in titanium alloys. Oxygen and nitrogen, which greatly solubilize in the α phase, strengthen the alloy but reduce its plasticity. Typically, oxygen and nitrogen concentrations in titanium are kept below 0.15-0.2% and 0.04-0.05%, respectively. Hydrogen's solubility in the α phase is minimal, and excess hydrogen forms hydrides that make the alloy brittle. Thus, hydrogen levels are controlled below 0.015%. Notably, hydrogen can be removed through vacuum annealing.

Application
Titanium plates are prized in the shipbuilding industry for their exceptional corrosion resistance, low density, memory shape, and non-magnetic properties. These qualities make titanium and its alloys ideal for use in nuclear submarines, deep-sea submersibles, atomic icebreakers, hydrofoils, hovercraft, minesweepers, propellers, whip antennas, seawater pipes, condensers, heat exchangers, acoustic devices, and fire-fighting equipment. Key titanium alloys include industrial pure titanium, titanium zirconium alloy, and titanium alloy. Our Advantages
