Product Description

Tc19 Tc20 Titanium Alloy Plate 1mm-8mm Various Sizes Can Be Customized
Titanium alloy, a marvel of modern metallurgy, is crafted by adding select elements to a titanium base. This resilient material showcases two distinct crystalline forms: α titanium with a close-packed hexagonal structure below 882ºC, and β titanium with a body-centered cubic configuration above 882ºC. Our technical standards are as follows: 1. The chemical composition must adhere to GB/T 3620.1, with permissible deviations as outlined in GB/T 3620.2 upon reinspection. 2. Thickness deviations are regulated by Table 1 specifications. 3. Width and length deviations are governed by Table 2. 4. Plate corners should ideally be squared, with the inclination not exceeding specified width and length deviations.

Alloying

Titanium alloy, a refined blend of elements added to titanium, exists in two crystalline forms: α titanium, with a close-packed hexagonal structure below 882ºC, and β titanium, with a body-centered cubic form above 882ºC.
Alloying elements are categorized based on their impact on the phase transition temperature:
1. Elements that stabilize the α phase and elevate the phase transition temperature are known as α stabilizers. These include aluminum, carbon, oxygen, and nitrogen, with aluminum being the primary alloying element. It significantly enhances the alloy's strength at both room and high temperatures, reduces its specific gravity, and increases its elastic modulus.
2. Elements that stabilize the β phase and lower the phase transition temperature are β stabilizers, further classified into isomorphic and eutectoid types. The application spectrum of titanium alloy products is expansive.
Amongst β stabilizers, isomorphic types include molybdenum, niobium, and vanadium, while eutectoid types comprise chromium, manganese, copper, iron, and silicon.
3. Neutral elements, such as zirconium and tin, have minimal effects on the phase transition temperature.
Oxygen, nitrogen, carbon, and hydrogen are pivotal impurities in titanium alloys. Oxygen and nitrogen dissolve significantly in the α phase, enhancing strength but reducing plasticity. Typically, titanium contains 0.15-0.2% oxygen and 0.04-0.05% nitrogen. Hydrogen's solubility in the α phase is minimal; excess hydrogen forms brittle hydrides. Hydrogen content is controlled below 0.015%, and it can be removed through vacuum annealing.

Application

Titanium plates are integral to the shipbuilding industry, prized for their exceptional corrosion resistance, low density, memory, and non-magnetic nature. They are extensively used in nuclear submarines, deep-sea submersibles, atomic icebreakers, hydrofoils, hovercraft, minesweepers, propellers, whip antennas, seawater pipes, condensers, heat exchangers, acoustic devices, and firefighting equipment. Major applications of titanium alloys include industrial pure titanium, titanium zirconium alloy, and various titanium alloys.
(1) All-Titanium Ships. Leveraging extensive practical experience, F1 has pioneered the manufacture of all-titanium boats. Throughout the 1990s, Toho Titanium Co., LTD., Nikko Industrial Co., LTD., Fuji Shin Shipyard, and Eteng Shipyard produced all-titanium fishing boats and speedboats. These ships boast numerous advantages: lightweight structure, high speed, compact engine, reduced fuel costs, lower carbon dioxide emissions, no surface coating needs, and easy-to-clean components. However, challenges include high material costs, complex processing and manufacturing procedures, and stringent protection requirements. Test results affirm that these ships exhibit excellent speed stability, minimal vibration, and reduced noise.
(2) Atomic Powered Ships. In Russia, titanium alloy has revolutionized the construction of steam engines, heat exchangers, and ship coolers by replacing stainless steel and overcoming corrosion issues. Titanium steam engines are now prevalent in Russian atomic icebreakers' power plants. This innovation has remarkably extended engine life by tenfold.
(3) Propellers. Propeller materials must possess high strength, superior fatigue performance, and resistance to erosion and cavitation in seawater. Titanium alloy meets these rigorous performance requirements. The U.S. Navy pioneered the use of a 1,500 mm diameter, four-bladed detachable titanium alloy propeller on a hydrofoil. China followed suit in 1972, developing various titanium alloy propellers with diameters ranging from 450-1700mm. Notably, a titanium alloy fixed propeller with a 1200mm diameter and 130kg mass has been produced. Long-term use indicates that titanium alloy propellers last over five times longer than their copper alloy counterparts.
(4) Marine Pumps, Valves, and Pipes. Traditional pumps, valves, and pipes made from copper and stainless steel have a limited service life of only 2-5 years due to harsh conditions. Titanium alloy replacements, however, show significant improvements and are ideal for large-flow mobile seawater pipelines. Russian standards for ship pipeline lifespans specify three benchmarks: an initial docking maintenance period of 8-9 years, a service life of no less than 15 years, and reliable operation for 25-30 years for all types of vessels.
