Product Description
2A12 aluminum rod is a typical hard aluminum alloy in the aluminum-copper-magnesium system. Its composition is reasonable and its comprehensive function is good. Many countries produce this alloy, is the largest use of duralumin top.
The alloy is characterized by high strength, certain heat resistance, and can be used as working parts below 150°C. At temperatures above 125°C, the strength of the 2024 alloy is higher than that of the 7075 alloy. The forming function in hot state, annealing state and new quenching state is better, and the heat treatment strengthening effect is obvious, but the heat treatment process is strict. The corrosion resistance is poor, but the coating with pure aluminum can be effectively protected; Cracks are easy to occur when welding, but special processes can be welded and riveted. Widely used in aircraft structures, rivets, truck wheels, propeller components and other structural parts.

Heat Treatment
2A12 aluminum alloy heat treatment specifications:
(1) Homogenization annealing: heating to 480~495ºC; holding for 12~14h; furnace cooling.
(2) Complete annealing: heating to 390~430ºC; holding time 30~120min; furnace cooling to 300ºC and air cooling.
(3) Rapid annealing: heating at 350~370ºC; holding time at 30~120min; air cooling.
(4) Quenching and aging [1]: Quenching 495~505ºC, water cooling; artificial aging 185~195ºC, 6~12h, air cooling; natural aging: 96h at room temperature.
