Product Description

Ta14 Titanium Alloy Plate Sheet 1mm 2mm 3mm Bending Welding Services Various Sizes Can Be Customized
Titanium alloy is a sophisticated composition of titanium with other elements, exhibiting two homogeneous crystal structures: α titanium (close-packed hexagonal) below 882ºC and β titanium (body-centered cubic) above 882ºC. Technical Specifications: 1: The chemical composition of titanium and titanium alloy sheets must adhere to GB/T 3620.1 standards, and any permissible deviations must follow GB/T 3620.2 upon buyer's reinspection. 2: Thickness deviation must comply with Table 1 specifications. 3: Width and length deviation must align with Table 2 standards. 4: Corners should be cut at right angles as much as possible, with inclines not exceeding the allowable deviations for sheet dimensions.

Alloying

Titanium alloy is a blend of titanium with additional elements, presenting two homogeneous crystal forms: α titanium (close-packed hexagonal) below 882ºC and β titanium (body-centered cubic) above 882ºC.
Alloying elements are categorized into three groups based on their effect on phase transition temperature:
1. Elements that stabilize the α phase and increase phase transition temperature are α stable elements, including aluminum, carbon, oxygen, and nitrogen. Aluminum, in particular, enhances alloy strength at both room and high temperatures, reduces specific gravity, and increases elastic modulus.
2. Elements that stabilize the β phase and reduce phase transition temperature are β stable elements, classified into isomorphic and eutectoid types. The application of titanium alloy products:
Isomorphic elements include molybdenum, niobium, and vanadium; Eutectoid elements include chromium, manganese, copper, iron, and silicon.
3. Elements with negligible effect on phase transition temperature are neutral elements, such as zirconium and tin.
The primary impurities in titanium alloys are oxygen, nitrogen, carbon, and hydrogen. Oxygen and nitrogen have high solubility in the α phase, strengthening the alloy but reducing plasticity. Thus, oxygen and nitrogen content in titanium is typically kept below 0.15~0.2% and 0.04~0.05%, respectively. Hydrogen solubility in the α phase is minimal, and excess hydrogen creates hydrides, causing brittleness. Therefore, hydrogen content is generally controlled below 0.015%. Hydrogen dissolution in titanium is reversible and can be expelled through vacuum annealing.

Applications

Titanium plates are extensively utilized in the shipbuilding industry due to their remarkable corrosion resistance, low density, memory, and non-magnetic properties. Their applications span nuclear submarines, deep submersibles, atomic icebreakers, hydrofoils, hovercraft, minesweepers, propellers, whip antennas, seawater pipes, condensers, heat exchangers, acoustic devices, and firefighting equipment. The main types of titanium alloys used are industrial pure titanium, titanium zirconium alloy, and titanium alloy.
(1) All titanium ships. F1 has an extensive history and practical experience in the production of titanium boats. Dating back to the 1990s, pioneers like Toho Titanium Co., LTD., Nikko Industrial Co., LTD., Fuji Shin Shipyard, and Eteng Shipyard have spearheaded the manufacture of all-titanium fishing boats and speedboats. These vessels boast numerous advantages, including reduced weight, enhanced speed, smaller engines, lower fuel consumption, diminished carbon dioxide emissions, no need for surface coatings, and easy-to-clean accessories. However, they come with higher material costs, complex processing and manufacturing requirements, and stringent protection needs. Test results indicate superior speed stability, reduced vibration, and noise.
(2) Atomic powered ships. In Russia, titanium alloys have revolutionized the manufacture of steam engines, heat exchangers, and ship coolers by replacing stainless steel, effectively mitigating corrosion damage. Titanium steam engines are prevalent in the power plants of Russian atomic icebreakers, significantly enhancing engine longevity by up to 10 times.
(3) Propeller. Materials for propellers demand high strength, excellent fatigue performance, exceptional erosion, and cavitation resistance in seawater. Titanium alloys fulfill these stringent requirements. For the first time, the U.S. Navy employed a 1,500 mm diameter, four-bladed detachable titanium alloy propeller on a hydrofoil. China followed suit in 1972, developing hydrofoil speedboat propellers. Today, various titanium alloy propellers are produced, ranging from 450mm to 1700mm in diameter, and include fixed propellers with diameters up to 1200mm and weights of 130kg. Long-term usage reveals that titanium alloy propellers last over five times longer than their copper alloy counterparts.
(4) Marine pumps, valves, and pipes. Conventional pumps, valves, and pipes made from copper and stainless steel typically last only 2-5 years under harsh conditions. The transition to titanium alloy has proven effective, especially for large-flow mobile seawater pipelines. Russian standards set high benchmarks: the first docking maintenance period is 8-9 years, a service life of no less than 15 years, and reliable operation for 25-30 years for all vessel types.
