Traditional mold materials have evolved significantly, with advancements in variety, specifications, and quality. In recent years, the output, production technology, process equipment, and quality of mold materials have seen rapid development. Performance Requirements
1. Annealing Processability
The spheroidizing annealing temperature range is broad, resulting in low and consistently predictable annealing hardness. Additionally, the spheroidization rate achieved is exceptionally high.
2. Forgeability
This material exhibits low resistance to hot forging deformation, excellent plasticity, and a wide forging temperature range. It also shows minimal tendencies toward forging cracks, cold cracks, and network carbide precipitation.
3. Oxidation and Decarburization Sensitivity
When heated to high temperatures, the material demonstrates strong oxidation resistance with a slow decarburization rate. It is less sensitive to the heating medium, thereby reducing the likelihood of pitting.
4. Cutting Processability
The material supports large cutting volumes, experiences low tool wear, and maintains low surface roughness during machining operations.
5. Hardenability
After quenching, the material can achieve a deep hardened layer, and it can be effectively hardened using mild quenching media.
6. Grindability
The material causes minimal wear on grinding wheels, allows for high-limit grinding without burning, and is relatively insensitive to the quality of the grinding wheel and cooling conditions. It also minimizes the risk of abrasion and grinding cracks.
7. Hardenability
Post-quenching, the material achieves a uniform and high surface hardness.
8. Quenching Deformation Cracking Tendency
Conventional quenching methods induce minimal volume changes, slight shape warping, and distortion, with a low tendency toward abnormal deformation. The material also exhibits low sensitivity to cracking and is unaffected by variations in quenching temperature and workpiece shape.
