Performance requirements
1. Annealing processability
The spheroidizing annealing temperature range is extensive, ensuring low and consistent annealing hardness with a high spheroidization rate.
2. Forgeability
The material exhibits low resistance to hot forging deformation, excellent plasticity, a broad forging temperature range, and minimal tendencies for forging cracks, cold cracks, or network carbide precipitation.
3. Oxidation and decarburization sensitivity
It shows good oxidation resistance at high temperatures, a slow decarburization rate, minimal sensitivity to heating mediums, and a low tendency to pitting.
4. Cutting processability
It allows for large cutting amounts, minimal tool wear, and low surface roughness during machining.
5. Hardenability
A deeper hardened layer can be achieved post-quenching using a mild quenching medium.
6. Grindability
The grinding wheel experiences minimal relative loss, allows for large limit grinding without burning, and is insensitive to the quality of the grinding wheel and cooling conditions, reducing the likelihood of abrasion and grinding cracks.
7. Hardenability
Post-quenching, it achieves a uniform and high surface hardness.
8. Quenching deformation cracking tendency
Conventional quenching results in minimal volume change, slight shape warping, and distortion. It has a low tendency for abnormal deformation and cracking sensitivity, and is insensitive to quenching temperature and workpiece shape.
