A superalloy tube is an advanced alloy tube formulated to withstand significant stress while offering excellent oxidation and corrosion resistance.
Superalloys are categorized as nickel-based and cobalt-based. They can be further divided based on the preparation process into deformation superalloy, casting superalloy, and powder metallurgy superalloy. According to the strengthening method, they are classified into solid solution strengthening type, precipitation strengthening type, oxide dispersion strengthening type, and fiber strengthening type. These superalloys are crucial in manufacturing high-temperature components such as turbine blades, guide blades, turbine discs, high-pressure compressor discs, and combustion chambers for aviation, naval, and industrial gas turbines. Additionally, they are employed in space vehicles, rocket engines, nuclear reactors, petrochemical equipment, and energy conversion devices like coal conversion systems.

High Temperature Alloy Pipe Manufacturing Process

The manufacturing process for superalloys without or with minimal aluminum and titanium typically involves smelting using an electric arc furnace or a non-vacuum induction furnace. Superalloys containing aluminum and titanium require vacuum smelting due to the challenges in controlling element burn-off and the ingress of gas and inclusions. To further reduce inclusions and improve the ingot's crystal structure, a dual process combining smelting and secondary remelting is used. Primary smelting methods include electric arc furnace, vacuum induction furnace, and non-vacuum induction furnace, while remelting is commonly performed using vacuum consumable furnaces and electroslag furnaces.
Solid solution strengthened alloys and those with low aluminum and titanium content (less than 4.5%) can be forged. Alloys with higher aluminum and titanium content are typically processed through extrusion or rolling before hot rolling, with some products requiring further cold rolling or drawing. Large diameter alloy ingots or cakes necessitate forging by hydraulic or fast forging hydraulic presses.
Highly alloyed, hard-to-deform materials are extensively used in precision casting molds, such as turbine and guide blades. Recent advancements in directional crystallization aim to reduce or eliminate grain boundaries perpendicular to the stress axis and porosity. During this process, grains grow in one crystal direction during alloy solidification, resulting in parallel columnar crystals without transverse grain boundaries. Achieving directional crystallization requires maintaining a high axial temperature gradient and optimal axial heat dissipation between liquidus and solidus lines. Single crystal blade manufacturing processes have also been developed to eliminate grain boundaries entirely.
