A superalloy tube is a specialized alloy tube designed to endure significant stress while offering excellent oxidation and corrosion resistance.
Nickel-based and cobalt-based superalloys form the foundation of our advanced materials. Classified by preparation processes, we offer deformation superalloys, casting superalloys, and powder metallurgy superalloys. Strengthening methods include solid solution strengthening, precipitation strengthening, oxide dispersion strengthening, and fiber strengthening (refer to metal strengthening techniques). These superalloys are pivotal in high-temperature component manufacturing such as turbine blades, guide vanes, turbine discs, high-pressure compressor discs, and combustion chambers for aviation, naval, and industrial gas turbines (see Figure 1). Moreover, they are essential in space vehicle construction, rocket engines, nuclear reactors, petrochemical equipment, and energy conversion devices like coal conversion systems.

High Temperature Alloy Pipe Manufacturing Process

When manufacturing superalloys with minimal or no aluminum and titanium, electric arc furnaces or non-vacuum induction furnaces are typically used. Atmospheric smelting of aluminum and titanium-containing superalloys leads to uncontrollable element burn-off and increased gas and inclusion contamination, thus necessitating vacuum smelting. To further reduce inclusions and enhance ingot crystal structure, a double process combining smelting and secondary remelting may be employed. Key smelting methods include electric arc furnace, vacuum induction furnace, and non-vacuum induction furnace, while main remelting techniques are vacuum consumable furnace and electroslag furnace.
Solid solution strengthened alloys and low aluminum-titanium ingots (total aluminum and titanium < 4.5%) are suitable for forging. Alloys with aluminum and titanium generally undergo extrusion or rolling before hot rolling, with some products requiring further cold rolling or drawing. Large diameter alloy ingots or cakes necessitate forging by hydraulic or fast forging presses.
Highly alloyed materials prone to deformation are predominantly used in precision casting, such as turbine blades and guide vanes. To mitigate grain boundaries perpendicular to the stress axis and reduce porosity in cast alloys, directional crystallization processes have been developed. This technique ensures grains grow in a single crystal direction during alloy solidification, creating parallel columnar crystals devoid of transverse grain boundaries. Critical conditions for directional crystallization include maintaining a significant axial temperature gradient and optimal axial heat dissipation between the liquidus and solid phase lines (refer to metal solidification). Additionally, single crystal blade manufacturing processes aim to eliminate all grain boundaries.
