It is mainly classified into two principal types: the brass rod (a cost-effective copper-zinc alloy) and the purple copper rod (renowned for its higher copper content). The brass rod, forged from a copper-zinc alloy, is distinguished by its characteristic yellow color, featuring a copper content spanning 56% to 68%, and a melting point ranging from 934 to 967 degrees. Its exceptional mechanical properties and wear resistance make it the material of choice for crafting precision instruments, maritime components, gun casings, and more. Variations in zinc content yield different hues, with 18%-20% zinc producing a red-yellow color, and 20%-30% zinc creating a brownish-yellow shade. Additionally, the unique resonance of brass when struck is harnessed in the production of eastern gongs, cymbals, bells, horns, and various Western brass instruments.
