Precipitation hardening stainless steel
It has good forming properties and good weldability. It can be used as an ultra-high strength material in the nuclear industry, aviation and aerospace industry.
According to the composition, it can be divided into Cr series (400 series), Cr-Ni series (300 series), Cr-Mn-Ni (200 series), heat-resistant chromium alloy steel (500 series) and precipitation hardening series (600 series).
200 series: chromium-manganese-nickel
201,202, etc.: manganese replaces nickel, corrosion resistance is relatively poor, and it is widely used as a cheap substitute for the 300 series in China
300 series: chromium-nickel austenitic stainless steel
304: general model; that is, 18/8 stainless steel. Products such as: corrosion-resistant containers, tableware, furniture, railings, medical equipment. The standard composition is 18% chromium plus 8% nickel. It is a non-magnetic stainless steel whose metallographic structure cannot be changed by heat treatment. The GB grade is 06Cr19Ni10.
304 L: Same properties as 304, but with low carbon content, it is more corrosion resistant and easier to heat treat, but with poor mechanical properties. It is suitable for welding and products that are not easy to heat treat.
304 N: Same properties as 304, it is a nitrogen-containing stainless steel. Nitrogen is added to increase the strength of the steel.
316: The second most widely used steel after 304, mainly used in the food industry, watch accessories, pharmaceutical industry and surgical equipment. Molybdenum is added to give it a special corrosion-resistant structure. Because it has better chloride corrosion resistance than 304, it is also used as "marine steel". SS316 is usually used in nuclear fuel recovery devices. 18/10 grade stainless steel usually meets this application level.
316 L: Low carbon content, so it is more corrosion resistant and easier to heat treat. Products such as: chemical processing equipment, nuclear power generators, and refrigerant storage tanks.
409: The cheapest model (British and American), usually used as automobile exhaust pipes, belongs to ferritic stainless steel (chrome steel).
430: Ferritic stainless steel, for decorative purposes, such as automotive accessories. Good formability, but poor temperature resistance and corrosion resistance.
The yield strength of 2205 duplex stainless steel is more than double that of ordinary austenitic stainless steel. This feature allows designers to reduce weight when designing products, making this alloy more cost-effective than 316 and 317L. This alloy is particularly suitable for applications in the -50°F/+600°F temperature range. This alloy can also be considered for applications outside this temperature range, but there are some restrictions, especially when applied to welded structures
904L (N08904, 14539) super austenitic stainless steel contains 14.0-18.0% chromium, 24.0-26.0% nickel, and 4.5% molybdenum. 904L super austenitic stainless steel is a low-carbon, high-nickel, molybdenum austenitic stainless acid-resistant steel, which is a proprietary material introduced from the French H·S company. It has good activation-passivation conversion ability, excellent corrosion resistance, good corrosion resistance in non-oxidizing acids such as sulfuric acid, acetic acid, formic acid, phosphoric acid, good pitting resistance in neutral chloride ion media, and good resistance to crevice corrosion and stress corrosion. It is suitable for various concentrations of sulfuric acid below 70°C, and has good corrosion resistance in acetic acid of any concentration and any temperature under normal pressure, and mixed acid of formic acid and acetic acid.
