201, 202, etc.: Ingeniously, manganese substitutes nickel, providing a cost-effective solution with relatively fair corrosion resistance, widely adopted as a budget-friendly alternative to the 300 series, particularly in the Chinese market.
300 series: This series features chromium-nickel austenitic stainless steel, renowned for its outstanding durability and versatility.
304: Known as the general-purpose model, often referred to as 18/8 stainless steel. Ideal for products like corrosion-resistant containers, tableware, furniture, railings, and medical equipment. It boasts a standard composition of 18% chromium and 8% nickel. This non-magnetic stainless steel's metallographic structure remains unchanged by heat treatment. The GB grade equivalent is 06Cr19Ni10.
304 L: Shares the same fundamental characteristics as 304, but with a lower carbon content, enhancing corrosion resistance and ease of heat treatment, albeit with reduced mechanical properties. Best suited for welding and applications that are not amenable to heat treatment.
