Rebar is a vital type of steel used for reinforcing and prestressed concrete applications. It generally features a round cross-section, but can sometimes be square with rounded corners. This category includes round steel bars, ribbed steel bars, and torsion steel bars.
Reinforced concrete steel bars are essential for concrete reinforcement and come in various forms such as straight bars and disc bars. These can be either round or deformed. Delivered in two conditions: straight bars and disc rounds.
Light round steel bars, often small round steel or disc circles made from ordinary mild steel, differ from deformed bars which feature ribbed surfaces. These typically have two longitudinal ribs and evenly spaced transverse ribs along their length. The transverse ribs can be spiral, herringbone, or crescent-shaped. The nominal diameter, equivalent to that of a circular bar with equal cross-sectional area, ranges from 8mm to 50mm, with recommended sizes including 8mm, 12mm, 16mm, 20mm, 25mm, 32mm, and 40mm. Common steel grades include 20MnSi, 20MnV, 25MnSi, and BS20MnSi. These bars are mainly tensile stress-bearing in concrete. The ribbed design enhances bonding with concrete, increasing resistance to external forces, making them ideal for various structural applications, especially in large, heavy, and high-rise buildings.
