Performance Requirements
1. Annealing Processability
The material boasts a broad spheroidizing annealing temperature range, ensuring low and consistently stable annealing hardness, along with a high spheroidization rate.
2. Forgeability
The steel exhibits low resistance to hot forging deformation, excellent plasticity, a wide forging temperature range, minimal tendencies for forging and cold cracks, and reduced precipitation of network carbides.
3. Oxidation and Decarburization Sensitivity
It demonstrates superior oxidation resistance at high temperatures, a slow decarburization rate, and low sensitivity to heating mediums, thus reducing the likelihood of pitting.
4. Cutting Processability
The material allows for significant cutting volumes with minimal tool wear and achieves low surface roughness in machining processes.
5. Hardenability
Post-quenching, the steel can achieve a deep hardened layer and is capable of hardening with mild quenching mediums.
6. Grindability
The steel permits a high limit grinding amount without burning, has a low relative loss of the grinding wheel, and is not sensitive to grinding wheel quality or cooling conditions, thus minimizing the occurrence of grinding cracks and abrasion.
7. Hardenability
After quenching, the steel achieves uniform and high surface hardness.
8. Quenching Deformation Cracking Tendency
The material shows minimal volume change, slight warping, and distortion during conventional quenching, with low sensitivity to quenching temperature and workpiece shape, reducing the risk of abnormal deformation and cracking.
