Stainless steel pipe is a versatile hollow, circular steel product extensively utilized in a myriad of industries, including petroleum, chemical, medical, food, light industry, and mechanical instrumentation. These pipes are integral to industrial transportation systems and mechanical structural frameworks. Their remarkable bending and torsional strength, coupled with a lightweight profile, make them indispensable in the fabrication of mechanical parts and engineering structures. Additionally, they are a popular choice in furniture and kitchenware production, showcasing their broad applicability.
Stainless steel pipes can be categorized into several types: ordinary carbon steel pipes, high-quality carbon structural steel pipes, alloy structural pipes, alloy steel pipes, bearing steel pipes, stainless steel pipes, and bimetal composite pipes, along with coated pipes designed to conserve precious metals and fulfill specialized requirements. These pipes serve diverse purposes, have varied technical specifications, and are produced using different methods. The current production capabilities for steel pipes include outer diameters ranging from 0.1mm to 4500mm and wall thicknesses from 0.01mm to 250mm. To highlight their distinct features, steel pipes are typically classified by the following criteria.

Application Requirement
Automobile Industry
In the automotive sector, stainless steel is primarily utilized in exhaust systems, accounting for over half of the stainless steel used in cars, with ferritic stainless steel comprising 80% of this amount. The exhaust gases from car engines are channeled through components like the exhaust intake pipe, front pipe, hose, converter, and center pipe, with common steel types being 409L and 436L. Automotive mufflers mainly employ stainless steel welded pipes. It's estimated that the automotive industry consumes about 1.5% of the total downstream stainless steel pipes, with a usage ratio of stainless steel seamless pipes to welded pipes being approximately 2:1.
Petrochemical Industry, Including Fertilizer Industry
The petrochemical industry has a substantial demand for stainless steel pipes, predominantly utilizing stainless steel seamless pipes. Common specifications include 304, 321, 316, 316L, 347, and 317L, with outer diameters ranging from about 18mm to 610mm and wall thicknesses from 6mm to 50mm. Typically, specifications above Φ159mm are selected for medium and low-pressure pipelines. Specific applications encompass furnace tubes, material conveyance tubes, and heat exchanger tubes.
Water, Gas, and Other Fluid Transport
Stainless steel pipes, along with their associated water transport equipment, represent the pinnacle of modern water purification materials. Their robust corrosion resistance far surpasses that of cast iron, carbon steel, and plastic pipes, making them the preferred choice.
For water preparation, storage, transportation, purification, regeneration, and desalination, stainless steel pipes are the optimal material. The annual demand for these pipes in the water industry is approximately 25,000 tons.
Equipment Manufacturing and Maintenance
The annual consumption of stainless steel pipes in this sector exceeds 20,000 tons. This industry predominantly uses sanitary or antibacterial grade stainless steel pipes. Sanitary seamless pipes made from imported SUS304 and 316L meet the stringent requirements of various media in the food and biopharmaceutical fields. Antibacterial stainless steel, combining the benefits of traditional stainless steel with excellent antibacterial properties, is increasingly in demand for kitchen equipment, food industry worktables and utensils, medical equipment, daily tableware, towel brackets, and refrigerators.
