Cutting-Edge Manufacturing Process for High-Temperature Alloy Pipes

For superalloys with minimal or no aluminum and titanium content, we employ electric arc furnaces or non-vacuum induction furnaces for smelting. When dealing with aluminum and titanium-containing superalloys, vacuum smelting is essential to control element burning loss and reduce gas and inclusions. We further enhance the product quality by combining smelting with secondary remelting, utilizing electric arc furnaces, vacuum induction furnaces, and non-vacuum induction furnaces for smelting, and vacuum consumable furnaces and electroslag furnaces for remelting.
Solid solution strengthened alloys and ingots with low aluminum and titanium content (under 4.5%) are ideal for forging. Alloys with higher aluminum and titanium content undergo extrusion or rolling, followed by hot rolling, and potentially further cold rolling or cold drawing. Large diameter alloy ingots or cakes are forged using hydraulic or fast forging hydraulic presses for optimal results.
Highly alloyed and less deformable alloys are predominantly used in precision casting, especially for components like turbine and guide blades. To minimize grain boundaries perpendicular to the stress axis and porosity, directional crystallization processes have been developed, resulting in parallel columnar crystals with no transverse grain boundaries. This process requires maintaining a significant axial temperature gradient and efficient axial heat dissipation between the liquid and solid phases. Research is also advancing towards eliminating all grain boundaries through single crystal blade manufacturing techniques.
