Superalloy refers to a distinguished class of metal materials primarily composed of iron, nickel, and cobalt. These metals exhibit exceptional performance under high temperatures above 600ºC and specific stress conditions. Notable for their high-temperature strength, they also offer remarkable oxidation and corrosion resistance, superior fatigue performance, and fracture toughness. These superalloys possess a single austenitic structure, ensuring stability and reliability across a wide range of temperatures.
Due to their outstanding characteristics and high degree of alloying, superalloys, also known as 'super alloys', find extensive applications in critical industries such as aviation, aerospace, petroleum, chemical processing, and marine engineering. Based on their matrix elements, superalloys are categorized into iron, nickel, cobalt, and others. Iron-based superalloys are typically used up to 750~780°C, while nickel-based and refractory metal-based alloys are preferred for even higher temperatures. Nickel-based superalloys hold a pivotal role in the superalloy domain, prominently used in manufacturing aviation jet engines and various industrial gas turbine hot-end components.
