High-Temperature Alloy Pipe Manufacturing Process Overview

The manufacturing process for aluminum and titanium-free superalloys or those with minimal aluminum and titanium content typically involves electric arc furnace or non-vacuum induction furnace smelting. For aluminum and titanium-containing superalloys, vacuum smelting is used to control element burn loss and reduce gas and inclusions. To further enhance the purity and crystal structure of the ingot, a dual process combining smelting and secondary remelting is employed. Key smelting methods include electric arc furnace, vacuum induction furnace, and non-vacuum induction furnace, while remelting methods feature vacuum consumable furnace and electroslag furnace.
Solid-solution strengthened alloys and low aluminum and titanium content alloys (with less than 4.5% total aluminum and titanium) are suitable for forging. Alloys containing aluminum and titanium are generally extruded or rolled before hot rolling. Some products may also require further cold rolling or cold drawing. Large-diameter alloy ingots or cakes must be forged using a hydraulic press or fast forging hydraulic press.
Highly alloyed, hard-to-deform alloys are predominantly used in precision casting, such as for turbine blades and guide blades. The directional crystallization process, developed to minimize grain boundaries perpendicular to the stress axis and porosities, involves growing grains along a single crystal direction during solidification. This process requires a significant axial temperature gradient and excellent axial heat dissipation between liquidus and solid phase lines. The development of single crystal blade manufacturing processes aims to eliminate all grain boundaries.
