Product Description
2A12(LY12-CZ) is a typical hard aluminum alloy in the ALCuMg system of Al-Cu-Mg, which can be strengthened by heat treatment with reasonable composition and good comprehensive properties. It is the largest amount of duralumin. The alloy is characterized by high strength, certain heat resistance, and can be used as working parts below 150°C. At temperatures above 125°C, 2A12 alloys are stronger than 7075 alloys. The formability in hot state, annealing state and new quenching state is better, and the heat treatment strengthening effect is remarkable, but the heat treatment process is strict. The corrosion resistance is poor, but the coating with pure aluminum can be effectively protected: cracks are easy to occur when welding, but special processes can be welded and riveted.

Mechanical properties

Heat Treatment
(1) Homogenization annealing: heating to 480~495ºC; holding for 12~14h; furnace cooling.
(2) Complete annealing: heating to 390~430ºC; holding time 30~120min; furnace cooling to 300ºC and air cooling.
(3) Rapid annealing: heating at 350~370ºC; holding time at 30~120min; air cooling.
(4) Quenching and aging: quenching at 495~505ºC, water cooling; artificial aging at 185~195ºC, 6~12h, air cooling; natural aging: 96h at room temperature.
