Stainless steel plate is a comprehensive term encompassing both stainless steel and acid-resistant steel plates. Since its inception at the dawn of this century, stainless steel plate development has provided a critical material and technological foundation for modern industry and technological advancement. These plates come in numerous varieties, each with distinct properties, leading to several categories over time. Based on structure, stainless steel plates are classified into four types: austenitic, martensitic (including precipitation hardening), ferritic, and austenitic-ferritic duplex stainless steel plates. Classification by primary chemical composition or specific elements includes chromium stainless steel, chromium-nickel stainless steel, chromium-nickel-molybdenum stainless steel, low-carbon stainless steel, high-molybdenum stainless steel, and high-purity stainless steel. Performance-based classifications feature corrosion-resistant, sulfuric acid-resistant, pitting-resistant, stress corrosion-resistant, and high-strength stainless steel plates. Functional characteristics lead to distinctions such as low-temperature, non-magnetic, easy-cutting, and super-plastic stainless steel plates. The most common classification methods combine structural and chemical composition characteristics, generally grouping plates into martensitic, ferritic, austenitic, duplex, and precipitation hardening types, or simply into chromium and nickel stainless steel categories. Typical applications include pulp and paper equipment, heat exchangers, mechanical equipment, dyeing machinery, film washing apparatus, pipelines, and coastal building exterior materials.
