Stainless steel plate is a broad term encompassing stainless steel and acid-resistant steel plates. Since its inception at the dawn of the 20th century, stainless steel has been pivotal in advancing modern industry and scientific progress. The various types of stainless steel plates, each with unique properties, have evolved into several categories. Structurally, stainless steel plates are classified into four categories: austenitic, martensitic (including precipitation hardening), ferritic, and austenitic-ferritic duplex. Chemically, they are categorized based on primary compositions or characteristic elements: chromium stainless steel, chromium-nickel, chromium-nickel-molybdenum, low carbon, high molybdenum, and high purity stainless steel plates. Performance-wise, they are divided into pitting-resistant, stress corrosion-resistant, high strength, and sulfuric acid-resistant plates. Functionally, they can be low-temperature, non-magnetic, easy-cutting, or superplastic stainless steel plates. Typically, classification combines structural and chemical properties, categorizing plates into martensitic, ferritic, austenitic, duplex, and precipitation hardening types, or simply into chromium and nickel stainless steel. Typical uses include pulp and paper equipment, heat exchangers, mechanical equipment, dyeing equipment, film washing equipment, pipelines, and coastal building exteriors.
