Stainless steel plate is a versatile term encompassing both stainless and acid-resistant steel sheets. Emerging at the dawn of the 20th century, stainless steel plates have been foundational to the advancement of modern industry and technology. The evolution of these plates has resulted in various specialized categories. Structurally, stainless steel plates are classified into four types: austenitic, martensitic (including precipitation hardening), ferritic, and austenitic-ferritic duplex. Chemically, they are categorized into chromium stainless steel, chromium-nickel, chromium-nickel-molybdenum, low carbon, high molybdenum, and high purity stainless steel plates. Performance-wise, they are segmented into acid-resistant, sulfuric acid-resistant, pitting-resistant, stress corrosion-resistant, and high-strength variants. Functionally, they can be low temperature, non-magnetic, easy cutting, and super plastic stainless steel plates. Common classification combines structural and chemical composition, resulting in groups such as martensitic, ferritic, austenitic, duplex, and precipitation hardening stainless steels, or simply chromium and nickel stainless steels. They are typically used in pulp and paper equipment, heat exchangers, mechanical equipment, dyeing machinery, film washing devices, pipelines, and coastal building exteriors.
