Our manufacturing process for high-temperature alloys, especially those with minimal or no aluminum and titanium, involves using electric arc furnaces or non-vacuum induction furnaces. For superalloys containing aluminum and titanium, vacuum smelting is essential to control element loss, gas inclusion, and impurities. To further refine the alloy, a dual process combining smelting and secondary remelting is employed, utilizing electric arc furnaces, vacuum induction furnaces, and non-vacuum induction furnaces for smelting, and vacuum consumable furnaces and electroslag furnaces for remelting.
Solid solution strengthened alloys and ingots with low aluminum and titanium content (under 4.5%) are typically forged. Alloys with higher aluminum and titanium content are processed through extrusion or rolling, followed by hot rolling, with some products requiring additional cold rolling or drawing. Forging of larger diameter ingots or cakes is performed using hydraulic or fast forging hydraulic presses.
Highly alloyed, hard-to-deform superalloys are extensively used in precision casting, creating turbine and guide blades. Recent advancements include the development of directional crystallization processes to grow parallel columnar crystals without transverse grain boundaries, enhancing the material's strength. Furthermore, single crystal blade manufacturing processes have been developed to eliminate all grain boundaries, thereby optimizing the structural integrity of the components.
