High Temperature Alloy Pipe Manufacturing Process

Manufacturing processes for superalloys with minimal or no aluminum and titanium typically involve electric arc furnace or non-vacuum induction furnace smelting. For superalloys containing aluminum and titanium, vacuum smelting is recommended to control element burn-off and minimize gas and inclusions. To enhance inclusion distribution and ingot crystal structure, a dual process of smelting and secondary remelting is employed. Electric arc furnaces, vacuum induction furnaces, and non-vacuum induction furnaces serve as primary smelting methods, while vacuum consumable furnaces and electroslag furnaces are used for remelting.
Solid solution strengthened alloys and low aluminum-titanium alloy ingots (with aluminum and titanium content under 4.5%) can be forged. Alloys with higher aluminum and titanium content are extruded or rolled before hot rolling, with some products requiring further cold rolling or drawing. Large diameter alloy ingots or cakes necessitate forging by hydraulic press or fast-forging hydraulic presses.
Highly alloyed and non-deformable superalloys are prevalently used in precision casting for turbine and guide blades. To optimize alloy properties, directional crystallization processes have been developed, ensuring grain growth along a single crystal direction to form parallel, columnar crystals devoid of transverse grain boundaries. This process requires a substantial axial temperature gradient and effective axial heat dissipation between the liquidus and solid phases. Additionally, the manufacturing of single crystal blades has been explored to completely eliminate grain boundaries.
