Stainless steel plate is a broad term encompassing both stainless and acid-resistant steel plates. Emerging at the dawn of the 20th century, stainless steel plates have provided the cornerstone for modern industry and technological advancements. Over time, numerous variants of stainless steel plates have emerged, categorized primarily by structure into four classes: austenitic, martensitic (including precipitation hardening), ferritic, and duplex (austenitic-ferritic) stainless steel plates. Classification by chemical composition divides them into chromium, chromium-nickel, chromium-nickel-molybdenum, low carbon, high molybdenum, and high purity stainless steel plates. Additionally, based on performance and application, they are classified into acid-resistant, sulfuric acid-resistant, pitting-resistant, stress-corrosion-resistant, and high-strength variants. Functional characteristics lead to further classifications such as low temperature, non-magnetic, easy-cutting, and super-plastic stainless steel plates. Commonly, the classification combines structural and chemical characteristics, resulting in categories like martensitic, ferritic, austenitic, duplex, and precipitation hardening stainless steels, or simply, chromium and nickel stainless steel plates. Typical applications include equipment for pulp and paper production, heat exchangers, mechanical devices, dyeing machinery, film processing equipment, pipelines, and coastal construction materials.
