Solid solution strengthened alloys and ingots with low aluminum and titanium content (less than 4.5%) are suitable for forging. Alloys with higher aluminum and titanium content are typically processed through extrusion or rolling, followed by hot rolling and, if necessary, further cold rolling or drawing. Establishing and maintaining a significant axial temperature gradient and optimal heat dissipation conditions are crucial for successful directional crystallization. Additionally, advancements have been made in manufacturing single crystal blades to completely eliminate grain boundaries.
