Stainless steel plate, a general term for both stainless and acid-resistant steel plates, emerged at the dawn of the 20th century. Its development has provided a solid material and technological foundation for modern industry and scientific advancement. There are numerous types of stainless steel plates, each with unique properties, which have led to several categories over time. Structurally, stainless steel plates are classified into four categories: austenitic, martensitic (including precipitation hardening), ferritic, and austenitic-ferritic duplex. Based on their chemical composition or characteristic elements, they are divided into chromium stainless steel, chromium-nickel stainless steel, chromium-nickel-molybdenum stainless steel, low carbon stainless steel, high molybdenum stainless steel, and high purity stainless steel. According to performance characteristics and uses, they are classified into resistant stainless steel, sulfuric acid resistant, pitting resistant, stress corrosion resistant, and high-strength stainless steel. Functionally, stainless steel plates are categorized into low-temperature, non-magnetic, easy-cutting, and super-plastic stainless steel plates. Common classification methods combine structural and chemical composition characteristics, typically categorizing them into martensitic, ferritic, austenitic, duplex, and precipitation hardening types, or simply into chromium and nickel stainless steel. Typical applications include pulp and paper equipment, heat exchangers, mechanical equipment, dyeing equipment, film washing equipment, pipelines, and coastal area building external materials.
