Stainless steel plates, inclusive of both stainless and acid-resistant varieties, have been a cornerstone of modern industry since their inception in the early 20th century. Their vast array of properties leads to numerous categorizations. Structurally, they are segmented into four principal types: austenitic, martensitic (including precipitation hardening), ferritic, and duplex (austenitic-ferritic) stainless steel plates. Chemically, they are distinguished by dominant compositions such as chromium, chromium-nickel, chromium-nickel-molybdenum, low-carbon, high-molybdenum, and high-purity stainless steel plates. Performance attributes further classify them into heat-resistant, sulfuric-acid-resistant, pitting-resistant, stress-corrosion-resistant, and high-strength varieties. Additionally, they can be specialized into low-temperature, non-magnetic, easy-cutting, and super-plastic steel plates. Common classification merges chemical and structural characteristics, forming categories like martensitic, ferritic, austenitic, duplex, and precipitation-hardening types, or simply chromium and nickel-based plates. These versatile materials find extensive applications across sectors, including pulp and paper equipment, heat exchangers, mechanical and dyeing apparatus, film processing setups, pipelines, and coastal construction materials.
